About Recycled Rhythms

Recycled Rhythms wants to come to your town,
city, theater and school! The idea is simple: sweep into town
and do some community cleaning. Where do we start? How about that
creek or river that you drive over every day polluted with old tires, bottles
and cans? Or, the alleyway and roadside dumping grounds that contaminate
our environment. From cleanup we take our found reusable treasures to
the workshop and learn basic building skills, through a hands-on approach to
design and create instruments from the everyday refuse and debris. Then,
introduce the students and community to fundamental playing techniques and
music from some of the most rhythmic streets in Brazil, (i.e. Samba, Capoeira,
Afro-Bloco and Bossa Nova.) Shall the fruits of your labor go to waste?
Absolutely not! Recycled Rhythms percussionists Chad Dunn, Jenna
Cameron and Ben Juday will donate all student-built instruments to their school
and encourage our new rhythmic and instrument designers to play a part in our
final big show. Ready to play? LET'S GO!
We can customize your program to fit your needs
and budget.
